    Default Dullstoom

    Hi there ,

    Will be visiting dullstroom this week end and dont have a cooking clue about
    conditions and flies, is it worthwhile to try in the night ????????????
    Plz can any of you give me some sort of guideline to start with .
    I dont know the name of the venue .

    The fishing in the area is a bit tough at the moment, with the fish largely in spawning mode. Try egg patterns, big woolly buggers and other big streamer type flies (Matukas, Mickey Finn etc), retrieved fast. Look for the fish at the inlets and outlets of dams.

    You should see some fish rising during late afternoon to Mayflies and some Caddis.

    Most venues don't allow fishing at night - in any case it is getting down to minus 5 every night, so it won't be much fun!

    Dont forget those Eukanuba flies either

    They have forecast a really nasty cold front, so you're going to have it as tough as it gets. You'll want to fish deep and slow.
    Damsels, boobies, egg sucking leeches, woolly buggers, etc.

    I was there last week and had some success on a Orange Marabu Muddler. Retrieved deep and slow.

    Also a DDD with the hackle and tail cut off is deadly, especially if the cast is preceded by a handful of gravel thrown on the water

    dont forget the white death , it really works well this time of the year , i wouldnt try at night this weekend , to cold, also i found the fishing in that area picks up form about 11 - 3 ,i wouldnt try before or after those times

    hmmm ..... is that a development of the good old-fashioned Epol Pellet fly?
