Comes down to personal choice I reckon - but mine is a what your nick is, a Copper John (a variation of it at least).

Is it beaded Dizzy? The reason I'm asking is because most my point fly's are not beaded (or weighted for that matter).

    For SM - my ubiquitous "two-tone" - tan & olive - probably #16, unweighted.

Is this the one from the book (Select Flies)? If so, it also a winner, but not my go to fly!

My personal choice is either a mustard cadis or flash back nymph (real small and with no wheight unless the water is fast)
The best day to go fishing is any day that ends in a "y"

#14 or #16 gold flashback PTN unweighted and unbeaded. Keep the thorax thin (not tadpole shape).
