Has anybody ever used Mountain Goat fur in fly tying? Looks as if this is great material! A fully grown billy
before moulting can have hair up to 10 inches in length! I have been trying to obtain a tanned pelt - but it is a
bit rich for my blood at US$1500 to US$2500!

The fur of this beautiful animal is scarce and demand is huge.

Hey Wiets, looks awesome, but I have never tried it before. I wonder if it is better than the BEAVER fur........??

    Cheers

I dont think it has the same or similar aquatic properties??

I have not heard of any flys that require it, but there is no end to the fly's that might be thought up...

Cut off it's tail, add biggest hook and holographic eyes you can find ... non slip loop knot onto 100lb fluoro on a 14WT ... place in front of biggest GT you can find ... hold on for dear life.

Just go to the rocky's for a holiday at the end of winter. These animals shed at this time and youcan just walk around picking up the fur
