    Do you guys kill the bass and bluegill you catch? Its a pity no serious action is being taken against the really invasive species.

    And it's going to get worse, saw a bunch of carp spawning in Clanwilliam dam last trip I was there so it's just a matter of time before they also move up the system.

    I catch the bluegill, use it as live bait to catch a bass then kill them both (LOL)

    No, lately I am returning the bass based on the theory that they keep the bluegill numbers in check and that the bluegills are in fact more detrimental to yellowfish especially during spawning where the bluegill will simply hoover up any eggs, and later also any yf fry.

    When I catch the bass at Sanddrif, I usually just braai them!

    heading to sandrift this from friday to tues on our annual camping trip planning to fish the stretch of river right at the camp site for yellows and sawfin
    any info on the area would be greatws and bass

    Hi

    I was up there in November and caught a few small sawfins on small nymphs below the bridge in the middle of the campsite, saw some bigger sawfins and yellows cruising in the bigger pools further down but they spooked pretty quickly and it was difficult fishing from the bank due to all the palmiet. But in general great spot and a healthy population of fish.
