I have tested mine with 3 x 2 litre Cokes - reads on 6kg (should be a little over to keep you honest...)
Just a question Gary, does Coke and something like butter not weigh differently?

Butter is packaged by MASS - so 7kg butter should weigh 7kg (excluding wrapping, which would be very little)
Water is 1kg/1litre, so 6 litres of water weighs 6kg (excluding packaging)

Milk/Coke etc is packaged by volume, but since it is basically water (maybe a LITTLE denser), you can take it that 6 litres of Coke/Milk etc weighs 6kg. It is the weight of the packaging that is missing.

Don't know about you, but I don't keep 7kg of butter at home.

Ok,I used butter for the mass reason, thought that liquids could be lighter.

Good stuff Gerrit, you've spared me from what would clearly have been a pointless exercise... more time for tying flies tonight then.

    No worries,

I did this long ago not to have doubts should a big one came around.
