Hackle : Dyed Olive
I have been having trouble in obtaining
Olive Hackle, and have tried dying, but unsucesfully. Can anyone assist me withe a procedure i.e. What colour (hot/cold) to buy/what colour hackle dyes the easiest and what procedure to use.

You wil first need to tell us wat colour you intend to use as the base colour, i.e. what is the colour of the hackel that you are trying to get olive?

I still don't know squat about the great catch
I personally don't dye natural items.It just add steps to everything.Rather buy already dyed goodies I say.

What's to tell? I live in Durban, a medium cast to to the 'berg, Notties or Kamberg. I dabble in the salt but prefer the evironshehehe.........looks like you've got yourself a new buddy Grant

Hi Roderick,
Where have you tried in Durban for hackle, and what sort of hackle are you looking for ? Dry fly, strung neck hackle etc etc ?

Welcome to the forum - have you tried buying your materials online? I'm not sure what the tackle shops are like in Durbs but I know that a lot of the coastal guys struggle with good tying supplies. Up here on the reef we are a bit luckier with a number of well stocked dealers.
My advice is to try Frotnier they have one of the better ranges locally. If you need more than what they have you'll probably have to look abroad. They are also pretty good about getting any stock that they don't have, you might have to be patient for a week or two thoug.
