Hi,
I was looking at some Caddis pic's on the web and thought I’ll try and imitate the Pupa stage - I'm sure this caddis imitation will work for the Yellows?

I'd keep the thorax a bit lighter to match the natural.
In my mind the eyes and oversized legs/feelers are key triggers, so by keeping the thorax lighter the dark eyes will become more pronounced and you can really go overboard with the length of the legs/feelers.
YellowFever had either a pic of a proper Vaal pupa on the yellowsonfly.blogspot.com site or IIRC he had a nice pattern for it too. (Probably included CDC )

I do agree about the lighter thorax and abdomen and will tie a few in these colors.
I also think that the green abdomen can be a trigger, when the caddis pupa comes out of the sack or pebble case its go a greenish or cream color, so I think both variations will do the trick?
