    July 2008 Saltwater Fly Swap

    The theme for this fly swap: TUNA FLIES.

    Here are the rules;

    1. You can tie any TUNA FLY.
    2. You are required to tie one fly for each participating member, one for yourself and one for the flyswap master.
    3. The flies must be mailed before 31 July 2008.
    4. List your name here before 15 June 2008 if you intend participating - please be serious and committed about it.
    5. Mail your flies to:

    Saltwater Fly Swap - July 2008
    Attention: Wiets Wilken
    P.O. Box 90
    Isando 1600

    6. Package your flies properly so that it's not damaged in the mail.
    7. Get a mail tracking number and post it here once mailed.
    8. Remember to include you forum name, proper name and return address.
    9. Do not worry about self addressed envelopes or stamps - I will take care of that.
    10. I will donate a white bucktail to the first 6 participants who's flies I receive.
    In other words, the first person I receive flies from will receive the first bucktail, the second person I receive flies
    from will receive the second bucktail, etc. I have 6 x white bucktails to give away.

    Notes
    1. Some flies went missing in the Jan 2008 fly swaps, it's vital to get a tracking number and post it here the moment you have posted.
    2. Members not delivering after committing will be banned from all future flyswaps I may hold. In addition, they will also be excluded
    from receiving freebies.

    Sorry about these tough rules, but it is bullsh!t for some members to behave in this way.

    Around the steel no tortur'd worm shall twine, No blood of living insect stain my line;
    Let me, less cruel, cast feather'd hook, With pliant rod athwart the pebbled brook,
    Silent along the mazy margin stray, And with fur-wrought fly delude the prey

    Guys, this flyswap is aimed at the Tuna season again starting in October. Similar to the just past Tuna Hunt trip (aborted due to weather), I will then arrange Tuna Hunt II, Tuna Hunt III, Tuna Hunt IV, etc. Besides the bucktail incentive listed above, your involvement in this flyswap will make you eligible for these planned Tuna Hunts aboard Revelations. These planned Tuna Hunts will be offered to you free of charge. If you had to charter a similar boat for such a 2 day Tuna trip, it will probably cost you in the region of R5000 to R10,000 - or there about (I do not profess to know the market related prices).

    So, you are invited to join this flyswap.

    My original plan was to stay out of this one as I prefer to swap flies that I know actually work If you guys are happy to try an untested concoction then what the h3ll we can all experiment together Looks like we are going to have a couple of chum flies - I might try a floating version - dry fly and all that
