Head off to Makro and buy a bulk pack of lollipops.
I will set up back only about R50, but you can choose the colour of the PVC tubes and eat the the rest.
Hi guys,
I am looking at sourcing tubes to tie some large tube FP's and other sailfish patterns. What do you guys use, do you know any local supplier etc.
Cheers
Gary

Thanks, what is the inside diameter of those lollipops?
Going to need something with a pretty wide inside diameter for the shock tippet.
I fish them with shocks up to 120lb and there's still space left...
Hi there Gary
I use Bic pen tubes. If you work in a big office it is for free and works like a charm. Just take a pair of scissors, stroll from office to office and cut the empty portions off each pen you can lay your hands on.

Earbuds is good, MC's Bic is great.
But this is the best one yet. The tubes are stronger than any normal plastic tube, earbuds Bic pens. And you can nibble on the lollipops.
For brass tubes you can try Non Ferrous Metals. They stock a large variety, some hobby shope also have. After sawing them make sure they are smooth.
For all of you who are interested in tying tube flies but don't know where to start,The following link has the most complete info on tube flies I have come across. It is a 10 part series. Well worth the read.

Thanks guys for the assistance!
Korrie that article is great, it actually brought up another question. The mandrel/tube fly holder, what have you found to be the best solution? Do you guys use standard pins/needles or bought devices?
