    Default Anyone fished Pniel recently?

Is Pniel still open as a venue?

I last visited in 2004, and it was some of the best river fishing I have ever experienced. I'd love to go back there sometime.

Between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Coming from Stellenbosch, over the Helshoogte Pass and you will find the village of Pniel.

I don't think Graham is refering to the same Pniel though. Pniel in the Cape is not a 'venue' as such

There is a nice little river, I have not fished it though. But have spoken to someone who fished it about 2 years ago.
According to him, very thin water with some nice fish in it. #2 and smaller rod type of water. But the fishing was a bit upstream from Pniel.

Maybe I have mentioned a river X which I was not suppose to. Apoligies for that.

Pniel Estate is /was THE yellowfishing venue, 25km outside of Kimberley. It is a hunting farm, with 40km of Vaal river frontage. But this is not like the Vaal we all love and know - this is extremely clear river, with no man-made weirs. And miles upon miles of riffles and runs all over smooth shiny rocks.

It offered sight fishing opportunities for LM yellows and SM 'rubberlips' that were really quite incredible.
