There can be only one! That counts, anyway.

I believe Marble trout from Slovenia isn't on your list. Unfortunately, I don't know the scientific name.

Australian grayling, of the genus Prototroctes and family Retropinnidae

But yes, let's keep this thread on the noble fish only

    Post old hatchery records...

Checking the old records here at Jonkershoek:
Salmo Fario: 1875, 1884, 1892 planted into the Eerste, Lourens, Breede and Berg. Subsequently both S.irideus and S Fario widely distributed from the hatchery (as far afield as Rhodesia!)
O mykiss, which is still bread here now, 1896.
Not of interest: In their native streams these fish spawned at different times of the year whereas in our local SA rivers they spawn at the same time making hybridizing very likely. I'm almost certain we now have our own unique "strains".

Chris: Rainbow Trout, now O Mykiss, used to be under the Salmo genus. When was that changed and what was their previous naming?
Trout are as much a part of South Africa as the oak trees are of Stellenbosch – not to be planted in wilderness areas where they do not already occur, but to be valued where they are established.

    HI Guys,

Would the triploid fall under rainbows? Being a no sex trout strain.
