    Default Bucktail vs Artificial materials

I have been tying with artificial materials for a while now.
To be honest, I can't remember when I last used a bucktail.

I wonder why would people tie with bucktail when the artificial materials are available in so many more colors?
The artificial materials outlast the the bucktail by 100 to 1.

Are there still, flytiers, using bucktail as their primary flytying material, for saltwater patterns and tigerfish patterns?

    HI Korrie,

Just aquired a range of synthetic bucktails and hairs and am very impressed. Seems to be stronger and yet more supple.

I think, from the top of my head, I have about 10 different types of artificial hairs. Fizzy Fibre, polar fibre, angel hair, synthetic hair etc.

Each one have a specific charateristics. You can blend them, mix them and they came in the most amazing colors. Plus the fly last forever.

Those are exactly the same types I have, true, the colours are unreal. The hairs and fiber materials are great. Some have flash as well that even flashabou cant give.

All of the hair I spin.

I clip the artificial hair in the MPJ tool or bull dog clip.
I cut the artificial hair in + - 4cm long sections.
I split the thread insert thishair in open the clip.
SPin the thread, wrap on hook shank. When wrapping keep on wrapping the hair back. Trim with sciccors to shape required.

    Works super.
