I believe red to be a major attractant to most predatory fish
so i think it will work with all but the shyest of fish
What ever you do never confuse Fishing With catching Fish !!!!
    Fish Are Friends Not Food

But your reasoning has a fatal flaw; it overlooks the fact that to comprehend it requires that one rub a few brain cells against each other. The heat thus generated produces the light that illuminates the fact, but alas, not everybody has the resource required to fuel the process --SG

you may be trying the wrong places. have you been to John at Upstream. he has a great selection of Spirit River stuff and some really interesting materials from other suppliers. If there is anything you need that he does not have, he can get it in a day or two. I have found pretty much everything there. If you are looking for good fritz chenille, Fly Waters is the place to go. Hends have the best selection of Chenille's out of all the manufacturers.
If you want marabou, or guinea fown in any concievable colour as well as glass and plastic beads, go to Merripac. Prtridge hooks from Sean, Hannak from Korrie, beads from Phillip.
I have never struggled for materials in the Cape. If there is something out of the ordinary you need, ask them to order it.
All these guys have really great service.
If you are startng up a collection, you may struggle for a few things like, fox tail, water mongoose, otter etc, but general stuff, no problem.
