    I would have to agree, if you sit down and plan to tie a couple then you can bang out one every 3-5 min.

    The question here is what is your view on basic? If it is just guard hair tail, underfur abdomen ribed and a thorax of mixed underfur and hair one could do it in no time at all.

    For the new tiers, it took me a couple of missed attempts and a view youtube videos to understand that the term "hare's ear" shoul not be taken as a indicationm of the material used. Hare's mask is closer to home.

    Points taken.
    I'd say it depends on how organized you work and the method used - i.e Using the production line method (1.) save time (2.) save materials (3.) consistency.(good for tying plenty of flies for friends/charity)
    ultimately more flies per minute. This is not the point of fly tying, yes I know but if you want to pull out the stop watch, let's go!

    Step one = Dip hook into superglue
    Step two = Dip into dubbing/blend of your choice
    Step three = Allow to dry

    Under 1 min even in the dark
