    HI Clive,

    Well done, if you can catch juveniles you can catch the brutes as well.

    The only time I use wooly buggers for bass is when sight fishing in shallow waters to spawning bass. One places the fly about a metre over the nest and twitch it closer. The bass turns and watches it , but does not leave the nest. It just seems to flare it's gills. If when pulling the fly closer it does not actually enter the nest, the bass just watches it pass. But let it enter the nest, the bass gently sucks it in and quickly spits it out about 2 feet from the nest and returns quickly. If not sight fishing when this happens, one would not even know that the bass mouthed your fly. Interesting that the bass does this, and not just eat the fly.

    Maybe someone can explain this, I cant.(goes on a diet untill eggs hatch)

    Dave, maybe just a way of keeping the nest clean. Not eating the fly but removing it.
