Charging (I think) R28/kilo which is for nothing for an endless supply of varying length hair material.
Hows the knife coming along ?

Diaichi do make a carp bait hook (scud) great thin wire for dries, but it does open up under real stress. I use mainly for Sterkies where the fish are less front row and more Brian Habana-ish. There is also a heavy gauge scud in the local bait shop now, maybe to thick if you want to go slim CZ nymphs but it would never break or open. (R15/25)

At the price of specialist hooks they should never open up given the variables of tippet and rods etc. But they do and that's like 10-20 minutes of tying down the drain appart from the lost fish - I swear it was 5kg smally!!
Only problem with the Stevenson brand is that they're extremely hard (tempered) and tend to break off when hooked up on rocks or thick branches, but agreed - they don't open up or break when hooked into a fish.

Those very thick scud hooks make good control flies. I usually varnish the final fly to minimise drag so it sinks quickly despite the bulky shape.

Badger fur:-? ! To do what with?
I know some sites in the US/UK has stopped selling exotics e.g. Blue Jay, Jungle Cock etc. But there may still be sites that do, best to search there.

The best local bucktail is Impala (rooibok). It has black, light- and dark brown and long white hair. I use the same tail from wooly worms, Montana nymphs, GRHE to Clousers. I have never tried to die it, but it should work.
