    Question Half decent?

    Hi fly aficianados!

This is my first post of flies I have been dabbling with since starting to tie.

Ive been at it for 2 odd weeks and was wondering...

Is this pattern worth the material its tied with?

I was playing around with some Ideas to get imitate a baifish with alot of movement...

It's based on an msp and weighted to swim upside down. (#6 grip 30012 hook with 4mm dumbell)

I use 2 zonker strips with a thinner one (made of chinchilla) on the top.

olive damsel antron alternated with crystal hares ear for the dubbing

with a bit of red mallard flank for the gills and olive hackle down the flanks/making gill plates/ pectoral fins.

I love the way the pattern looks in water but im not a fish...

    (Sorry bout the sh1t pic)

Kind of fattish White Death. Should get the carp to raise their heads above the parapet I reckon.....

    Thanks for the input!

its actually *allot* more on the Gray /dirty cream side rather than white..

i test drove 'em on the weekend, and the darker ones seem to imitate vleikurper very well.

So much so that other tillapia avoided this thing like it was a rival!

Just not sure if that's a good thing or not??

I think your creation is the business! Definitely a great looking bait fish imitation + with the added movement I doubt that one can go wrong. I reminds me a lot of the double bunny zonker

It looks a good bit like that pic! but i create banding on the flanks with the grizzly chinchilla and enhance that with my dubbing set-up.

I made a variant out of caracal and rabbit, but although the color is closer the movement just isn't there.

If you guys think its worth it i can bang out an sbs...

Yes please! There is always something to learn about other people's flies and techniques, even if it just sparks a new thought or way of achieving a certain result. Please just make sure you get a decent camera set up (0 pun)

    Hi Dave!

I gathered as much, it is a very poor pic! I need to rustle up a good cam to take pics for my little sbs... Otherwise all the pics will look like they have been chasing the dragon!

I know to take you old farts with a pinch of salt
