    Default Salt water challange

I grew up in Dullstroom and started fly fishing from around 8 years old.

I have over the years enjoyed a lot of fly fishing in the fresh water but now working in Saudi its time for a new challange.

I brought my spinning gear with me and before the winter dropped water temps in the arabian gulf to 15-16C I had pinned some nice size queens on GT Icecreams with the biggest 25#.

I got my paws on a bargain in Baharain the past weekend

This is my 1st salt water setup and it came loaded with Rio Sink tip line.

I had to order flies on ebay.
Also have a strip basket and Sharkskin 9wt floating line on the way.

All goes well I might be teasing the queens with a flie in a couple of weeks.

Till then I will be casting the 9wt on the soccer field in te evenings learning how the rod loads.

It is nice to be able to put a full fly line out on the lawn.

I have a 10wt GLoomis and 12Wt TFO waiting at home...

    Guys,

I am urgently looking for saltwater flies...

Gurglers, crease flies and clousers on 3/0 hooks for queen fish, spanish mack's and barracuda.

I have a friend coming back from SA to Saudi 1st week in April that will bring back the flies.

I have found a bunch of flies but they are in Aus at the moment and I urgently need to get a fly line in the water...

Please PM me if you can help.

    Thanks,
    Gerhard Delport

Do you tie any of your own flies? Tying things like clousers is far cheaper than buying them. They are also very easy to tie. Crease flies and gurglers too. If you don't tie your own flies I would seriously consider getting an entry level kit. There are plenty of SBS's on this forum which are very helpful. Sorry I can't help more than that. You are flippen lucky to have such decent fish on your doorstep
An honest fisherman is a pretty uninteresting person.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and not only is he hungry but broke for the rest of his life as well.

At this stage I need some flies just to get going.

I am going home in June and will then get my fly tying kit dusted off and bring it back with me.
