Default What ever happened to the E.T ?

A few yeas back there was a publication in the TCFF and an American publication of a dry fly called The Extra Terrestrial. I cannot recall the name of its originator.
It was claimed to be a very productive pattern for the Cape streams.
I have not heard of this pattern again since. Did it die a quiet death? ....turned out not to be so effective? Or did CDC arrive on the scene?
Does anyone still use it ?

    The internet is wonderful.

Dunno anything about the pattern though Herman. Soos hulle sê...F*K weet!*

Here's two ways of tying the Extra-Terrestrial:

MMM, from the overwhelming response, I draw the following conclusion:

The current ACTIVE cape members who fish the streams are :-

    A. Old School - they don't bother with any new hype that came on the scene after 1995 or ,
    B. Noobs - they didn't Ffish as far back as 2003 or ,
    C. Non of the above - the "cape streams report back " is propganda

Sorry Herman - I have never heard of it so didn't respond. Googled it too and got tons of unrelated stuff as you'd expect.

I wasn't fishing the cape streams then so I am one of the Noobs.

I have heard of it. Don't know what it is though. I have a feeling it could have been a variation of a beetle. MC will know.

Guys , it was a crossover pattern for pocketwater AND quieter surface water. Basically it was a beetle for the abdomen , a parachute hackle & post thorax with a set of pheasant tail hopper legs on either side. Tied on a #14 hook. The claim was that you never had to change your dryfly while fishing through different water types. It's a cool looking pattern ,so I'm perplex that it never hit the mainstream.

Single life? You give me too much credit - more like no life (outside of fishing of course )

Once your girls have finished your mating dance ...

This sounds like a fantastic or at least very interresting pattern ... how about we get some pics of it ?

Why not write/phone/fax/smoke signal to TCFF and ask them for the SBS or back issue?
