Maybe it's the age a creeping ? But when an open question/ invitation is posted, I have seen the venue posted at the same time, or at least dicussed.

I feel my point has been missed entirely.

If you want a group of blokes, then post an open invitation as was done originally.
If you want a selected few then PM or phone them.

Maybe I'm being pedantic, if I am, then, go for it Fellas,
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

No really I doubt that is what CJ intended at all, I also really doubt that there are more than a handful of people mal enough to fish the vaal in this weather.

The original post should rather have been something like...

"Hey you a$$holes, a select few and myself will be fishing location Z this Sunday - what a venue - just wanted to let the rest of you know you are not part of the 'club' [select few] - so F U ... "

I didn't wanna reply, but must support you in this.
    wow - overboard.

I really don't think that is what CJ intended at all. There really are no secrets on the vaal. I think he was just trying to get a group of guys together and didn't want to turn it into a circus.

    why take it so personally?

Should be more on the lines of '' Did anyone catch a cold today?''
It was kinda fresh this weekend...
