    Default Queen Mackerel on fly!

    Morning Guys!

Has anyone ever targeted Queen Mac or Natal Snoek on fly before. I have caught them on small spoons off the boat. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about targeting them?

If you have fished for them before, you know they can be very tempramental at times. But a fly will outfish any other artificial - excl the Sard fillet with a skirt. Chat to the local ski-boat guys and find out where the Snoek are, this time of the year they tend to be on backline late and early in the day.

Get there first light on the backline and look for action and chases. If not just cast blind will you wait for them to show them selves.Would use an intermediate line, 8-10wt rod, 2/0 clouser or profile bait fish, 10cm 40lb wire onto a 20-40lb leader. Colours - white/grey, white/chartreuse, white/pink.

Later in the day the fish will move furher offshore and you can change to a sinker with same fly and leader set-up.

Big plus up there is that the ave fish is much bigger than south. Last year a few fish bigger than 10kg came out.

I have see it before and it gets really frustrating seeing all these fish around the boat and they are bumping into your spoon but just will not take it! Thanx for your help HolyGt! Hope that we get something.
