    There's a thread on the home page of this forum, under "fly tying"...one is called "Freshwater SBS" and the other "Saltwater SBS".
    Check them out, will help you a lot.

    Click here: http://www.flytalk.co.za/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=58

    Loads of patterns, materials and info there...plus step by step guides.

    It sometimes helps if you watch it being tied - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjy93..._order&list=UL

    The one he ties is a bit bulky for me, id use about half of everything he uses in this fly, but watch his videos, VERY good - clear and consise.
    Around the steel no tortur'd worm shall twine, No blood of living insect stain my line;
    Let me, less cruel, cast feather'd hook, With pliant rod athwart the pebbled brook,
    Silent along the mazy margin stray, And with fur-wrought fly delude the prey

    Sorry if I'm sounding a bit dense but what exactly is the difference between the GRHE nymph and the PTN?? As far as I can see these flies do look pretty much exactly the same?

    The Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear is tied with Hare's Dubbing and the PTN with Pheasant Tail Fibres.

    I like to use some of this guys patterns, and the SBS are simply brilliant.
    You can also download them to PDF and print them for reference while tying....
