Default Does anybody fish out there???

To whom it may concern !

I have been recommended by some useful resources to join the forum and get going. I am a fly fisherman living in Paarl and do not know anyone in my area who fly fishes, and its killing me! I have a few secret spots that I wet a line every now and again but want to find trustworthy guys to fish with, that is my problem. I am originally from Durbs and also am dying to get out on a boat for some decent saltwater fly fishing. I have all my own tackle, I just need the contacts!

I am off to langebaan to try my luck at some guitarfish/sandsharks this weekend so if any of you are going to be there or have any special tips that were left out of the last article in the CFFM, gime a shout.

I look forward to some replies and tight lines.

No, no one here fishes. You must be in the wrong place..... but if you are prepared to show us some of your secret spots, i'm sure you could find someone who could fake it.

So Gerhard, who are these " chuck and dukkers " you mentioned? any in Paarl???

My spots are truly spectacular, maybe not secret as such but definitely not fished out like most streams!!! I doubt wether anybody has fished those streams for a few years! Just looking for guys that don't specialise in catch and kill, but rather catch and respect! So come on, whose in my area then???

O, and thanks for the welcome !

    Ryan,
There are a lot of ex Natalians here in the Cape. We love to shout for the Sharks, but beware of a Province skipper who can "bump" into you and over the side you go Langebaan is lekka, but stay clear of the kite surfers. They chase things away.
Behold the fisherman. he riseth early in the morning and disturbeth the whole household. mighty are his preperations. he goes forth full of hope and when the day is ended, he returneth smelling of strong drink and the truth is not with him. originator unknown.

Hi there, Welcome to the site and forums.

In answer to your original question, NO, no one fishes a get together in the Cape, unless it's organised by a Vaalie.

It seems that that the Cape "Booitjies" are very singular, cliquey, and wont share.

There are a few however, that us Vaalies have "educated" into what a days fishing is all about.

Andre & Korrie are your SERIOOOUUUUSS okes.

Looking for relaxed, then it has to be Rols, Jasper and Nicholas.
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

Hi Fish eagle... most of the guys here, fish for trout on the waters of the Cape piscatorial society. If you are not yet a member, it would be to your advantage to sort out your membership, and you will have more fishing partners than you can cope with. Let me know when you are ready, and I will certainly arrange to introduce you to our waters.
