    Default Id of fish??

I have found these little fish in pools along a river the past weekend. The river looks like it is going to dry up soon due to the drought in the western cape but when we did a more closer inspection we found them mostly hiding under a stump. we thought at first is tad poles, because the river is so low.
    What fish is it?

Mostly likely they're Cape galaxias, but that can only be established from a photo.

Yup, definitley Red fin minnows -Pseudobarbus spp. an indigenous and often threatened genus.
What stream were they in? The species are pretty area specific.
