Default Winter escape !!! What eats these ???

Had enough of windy winter over here - weather is messing up any chance of a shot at getting out wide so am off to some nice sandy cays up north on a "you beaut" deal that I could not refuse !

Have had to get busy on the bench, resulting in the below, rather single minded, single purpose flies....Krystal Flash, Slinky Fibre and a little Sparkle Braid thrown in on the Gotchas...all in 4's, 6's and 8's.

Missus tied the first 2 so those will be getting used first off....here's hoping !

    Cheers

Yeah they call them flathead - miserable things born of desparation due to lack of options down here in NSW.

Not chasing them mate - off up north to chase bones on the sand flats !!!

AAAH THAT PIC BRINGS BACK MEMORIES - THOSE LOVELY COLOURED PECTORALS !!

Now I see we have our wires crossed - blame Eskom !

The Aussie platkop is not as splendid a thing as what you have just put up - more a "lelikke akkedis" type thing - now will have to plonk around inshore and get one just to display....

On another note am shortly going to receive a shipment of TFO gear - 7 rods and 6 reels including the new BVK reels that are as sexy as Anneline Kriel was in the 80's....before she was defiled by that ou toppie....will be field testing them hard - not many have done so yet - will put up a post once done - of course on the bones in the tropics...

    Cheers

    This is a Cape Gurnard
Dlampert aka Click has some awsome shots of the pecs (time to dig in the photy folder and post )

Not a bartailed flathead (Natal side )
but you are right they are only caught when there is absolutley nothing else to chase :0)

I think that what is talked about when talking of flatties is what I attached hereto, what MC is sporting there is one of the prettiest creations in the 7 Seas. Afrikaans I think they call it a Knorhaan. Damn it is even uglier than I remembered (attached)
