    Default nymphing rod length?

I always use to use a 9ft rod for nymphing but then I started using a 10ft and now I just wouldn't feel comfortable with anything less than a 10ft, so out of interest lets see what most guys use (I'm talking about the Vaal in particular here)

    Def 9'9" or 10'.

I'd like to try an 11' for big waters too.

Depends on the Nymph really. Some like a long rod and others prefer that little extra.

Been fishing with a Echo Shadow PE in 3#, 10ft - never going shorter, just longer maybe!

Just a bit of devil's advocate.

Who have even held a fly rod that is longer than 10''?

Depends on the stream or river and fish, but a 10", 11" or even a 12" for me.
PS, I have all of those length of rods.

Nymphing, adds depth to your fly fishing.
Nymphing, is fly fishing in another dimension

Korrie, the 12' length...what rod is it? (Or blank?)
Someone is interested in building up a 12 or 13 foot Vaal nymphing rod. I'm thinking possibly a spey blank...but fear it may be too heavy and on a long day's fishing the guys' arm may want to break off.
