Always worth a go, it is stocked often and the fly shop in Sabie can give you up to date reports!

I can't find much info on venues other than the Sabie club. Also considering exploring options on the Olifants river...

Thank you so far for the replies. I'll see how things turn out. The Treur sounds interesting...

    Hi...

A few months back, I visited Sabie and got a permit from the local tackle shop to fish the river a there designated beats.

I had a blast hey, nothing on dry, but I fished a single brown mayfly on 5x with a small indicator...presented upstream and let it slowly drift back to you..

Caught quite a few nice rainbows like that...great fun on a 2wt hey

Sabie is not for me. Some like it, I hate it.
The Blyde, well this is the place I fish when I am up there. It has wild written all over it and thats what I like about it.

The Sabie tends to run murky in December.
The Blyde also gets a flush from time to time, but it clears quicker and we have fished it even in murky/muddy conditions and we caught loads.

If stalking trout in gin clear water is your thing, then the Blyde will do it for you. Oh, and December time is good for Smallscale Yellows. Solid bars of Gold if you ask me.
Look out for Mambas. If you like snakes, get someone to take a group photo of you and a Mamba.

You get a pass up at Big Sky Outdoor in Sabie for both the Sabie and the Blyde.
If you are up there, get some info and try and get on the Treur. Here you will catch the odd Troot, but you will nail the Yellows.....Untouched Wilderness.
Where do you stay when you are up that way? Are there spots with fishing and accomodation on the Blyde and Treur?

I stay out in Nelspruit and drive up and down.

Crystal Springs, The Caravan Park, Royal Hotel is all good for the Blyde.
Treur, if you can get onto it, I would stay in Graskop.

For both venues, Graskop is actually a good bet. They have plenty of accommodation. Google is your friend.

When you say "if you can get onto it", is that because it is mostly private land?
