Default Day off! Where to fish?

    Hi guys,

I took a day off from work and want to hit the Vaal tomorrow. I’ve never fished Silverstrome or Arendsnes and would like to tryout these waters..Taking in account the low flow (and the no-existing crowds ), which venue will you recommend?

Go fish Arendsnes, you will like it!!!

Fish the opposite bank below the reeds and that massive black boulders. This is a nice deep glide and the fish are willing.

From here work your way up towards the Willows at the rapids.
Also try above those rapids to the left, there is some nice fish to be had on dry and dropper, the water ranges form waist to chest deep.

Plenty of water to fish here.....Enjoy it

Flow has increased suddenly from 11 [I see Rand Water again allowed the barrage level to go above the max 7.55 to 7.60] to 25.415 (last info available) and level was still at 7.60 after 12 hours at the higher rate.

Most venues will be fine to fish at 30; but I am cautious about what Rand Water might do given their track record the last 2 years.

    Enjoy the fishing.

Remember the Storms of Sat night, not just here but in Joeys as well. On Sun morning it was still p!ssing in Soweto, That water takes 2 days to get here, so it seems right.

For SM flows of 30 - 50 are what I like.

I know you are hunting Largies and that the higher flows screw things up for you................................ Sorry for you, happy for me.

Default Vaal River Canoe Marathon. THIS WEEKEND

Guys & Ladies, it's the Vaal Marathon this weekend.
Flows between the Vaal Dam and the Barrage will rise to around 40 - 50 tons on Saterday.
On Sunday the flows below the Barrage wiil start at around 80 tons and progress down the river with the canoists till they reach Parys.
The flows above Parys will start dropping again from around 12- 14:00.

Fishing the rising flows is good, but PLEASE don't get caught at a venue like GVP, in flows of 80, or any other new venue for you for that matter, 'cos you will K@K.

The higher flows will only hit the Potch area around Monday so those fishing Oord Nebo etc, will be OK.

Keep your eye's open, watch the water levels and stay safe .
