Forgotten knot for small dry flies
Guys,
Hope someone can help me .
Long time a go, I used to use very successfully knot for small dry flies matched with tiny tippets , for delicate, clear waters....
When knot is done, clean tippet is coming out from the hook eye , where knot it self is actually bellow the hook eye , having a loop wrapped over the neck of the hook eye , if you understand this "description " .
I am pretty sure that "father" on the beginning and than "brother" on the end of River Runs Through It movie are tying exactly this knot.
Of course , they are Angelina's husband "father" and "brother " in the movie. :biggrin:
Anyone remember this knot ?

In this illustration they wrap it 4,5 times, you only need 3,5 times.
If I have a bit of time, will do photo SBS, on the easy way to tie this knot.

For some specific , micro dry fly presentations , and non-horizontal, but angled hook eye , I need something as Turle, obtaining more natural "fly settlement on the water.

to test the knot strength, tie a hook on either end of a piece of mono.
Hook the 2 hooks, "into" each other in the bend.
Pull the hooks apart with the nylon and see which knot snaps first.
Doing it this way, might be good idea to wear glasses.
PS: Turle knot is definitely not a knot for low light.

Pitzen a good "general" knot? I have not googled it or anything I must add - would rather hear 1st hand experience. Dry/Nymph/Streamer - good for all?

That is the "more difficult way", for me, but the basics is 100%.
When tying a knot, I tend to use all 10 fingers, which makes it much easier.
