Greetings All
A new boy here - not to fishing but to the Forum
Am a regular to Henties Bay since '94 and am off again on the 16th for a week. Has any one any news how the fishing has been? Also saw some archive threads about fly fishing those water - will be trying it this time if the wind and waves permit.
Normally fish a lot in the Okavango Delta for Tiger and Bream, both spinning and fly. had great fun this summer with Tiger on poppers, especially during the Barbel Run but also late evening while being eaten by Mozzies.
Any up to date info on henties much appreciated.

Hi there and welcome. I'm not too sure how recent the following article is, but if only to whet your appetite, check it out;http://www.outdoorpages.co.za/Fishing/RockAndSurf/Articles.asp?ID=184

Thanks Chris
A late night browser I see !
Will have to brush up my non-existant Africaans but the pictures certainly whet the appetite. Will report when I get back.

Cool, please do!
By the way, if it's big Steenies you are after, try the sandbanks and parallel gulleys 2.5km South of the first toilet block (i.e. the first toilet block on the Swakopmund side)at Jakkalsputz. Don't cast too far. This is a excellent spot and has been producing the goods consistantly for the past 3 years that I have been visiting Henties. You can also dig white mussel there.
Good luck!

Hi
OK thanks - will give it a bash. Also like a spot about3km south of mile 72 but there has been heavy erosion over the past years and its difficult to locate

Hi Guys, I heard a report yesterday that the water temps around the Henties area are currently 22 - 24 deg C!!!!!
They have apparently been this high since January, ( first hand report from a client who was there from the third week of July for 2 weeks ).
reports are that the fishing is really k@k at the moment.

Ja, I experienced a week of similar temperatures two years ago and the fishing was extremely poor. However, I've heard of really large Leervis coming out between Cape Cross and Mile 72 when the temperatures are this warm.
