Anyone fished at Three Steams Cottage (http://www.franschhoek.org.za/R70_R200MtoZ.htm ) in Franschhoek before?
My friend booked a weekend there and some tips would be greatfully received :)

They got Atlantic Salmon in them there waters! Not big'uns, but I believe they were only stocked very recently.
Never fished it though so can't help with tactics, flies etc.

I fished there a few yeard back when they formed part of the Bastil Festival. Had great fun there, caught loads of fish. No day permists allowed, only if you rent the cottage can you fish. There are 2 dams. I only fished the one they opened for the festival.

Feedback from the weekend.
Three Streams is an awesome venue. The dam is not the biggest and to be fair, there are only about 5 spots to cast from, but the one thing that struck me, was the fights. In the past I've found that stillwater trout - specifically in frequently stocked waters, are rather lethargic. They put up a quick fight and then they float to the surface. Here it was not the case. We had a couple of trout running into the backing.
It was quite hot on Saturday, so most of the trout were taken from 06:30 to 10:00. Zonkers attracted the most attention, but I also caught a couple on Cats’ whiskers. The trout was lying very deep, so we used intermediate lines. Only barbless flies are allowed and it was obvious that the trout knew this, as we had a fair few long-line releases :)
The days tally must have been close to 50 fish.
An added bonus of the venue, is that it suites both beginners and the more experienced fly fisherman. We had 2 guys who never casted before and after a few lessons they managed to catch 6 trout between them.
Price: R800 per night for a 3 bedroom cottage – sleeps 6.

Hi Rendier - Any sign of the salmon?

According to my wife, the salmon is kept inside the facility - not accessible to the anglers, which was a pity. The only "other Species" caught was a nice big frog :)

Nah there are apparently Salmon stocked in one of the dams (I believe there are two dams). Someone I know stayed there a while back and has pictures of the atlantic salmon that they were catching.
I will post one of his pics in the gallery for you to see. (Pic now added to the Gallery)

I didn't catch any salmon and as far as I'm aware, neither did my mates. I know they stocked the dam with rainbows about 2 weeks back. I only saw 2 dams on the farm, of wich one clearly stated "FARM DAM 1 - NO FISHING"

Rumour has it that one of the new guys caught a "rather lean looking" trout. I'll try and get my hands on the picture and verify the species.

It was hard to keep away. They had some monsters swimming in there and the pool real shallow.
