Do you think I can get a wading stick in 5/6 weight? The ones I've seen are mostly in the #500 class, except for the ones you buy at C.U.M or Due South, they rated maybe #100, if even that much.

I think Werner is confusing the Guide II and the CLassic II.
Hence why he reffered to a 5/6.

The classic II is a great little 3pc starter rod though with a lifetime guarantee.
I think it should also be round the R600 mark or so, so yeah alot more affordable that a guide II.

i must be shopping at the wrong places...

the rod i checked out was a classic II 9ft 6wt and was tagged at just over a grand, but my price was R840. :P

so maybe my next question should be which are the shops worth visiting? i've found quite a few in my close virginity, but perhaps its worth it to take a longer drive out?

    i live in randparkridge btw!

That's steep. I'm sure StreamX isnt the cheapest possible place to buy at, and even there its listed at around R780, standard price.
