    Default Bass/Tiger Popper

    Well guys,

I thought I'd attempt something slightly different for Mr Wavegartz.. So I decided on some deer hair and because it's a bass/tiger fly, I thought to go with some aggressive attractor colours.

    So here we go:

    Materials used.
Hook - Any long shank hook with a nice gap
    Eyes
    Rubber legs
    Orange marabou
    Saddle hackle
    Foam
    Strong thread (140)

Build up some thread. This will help part the tail feathers.

Tie in the saddle hackles. Grizzle saddle as well as a few orange saddles.

Tie in a saddle, and wrap it around the shank.

Then tie in some orange marabou. You can also tie in a bit of the marabou from the orange saddle hackles.

Now it's time for the deer hair. Grab a nice section, wrap the thread round twice, and then apply tension..

    6.jpg

Pack the deer hair nice and tight using the back of a pen or something. Then tie in the rubber legs. You can then add your next colour and continue the process.

It is now time to trim the deer hair. Use your scissors and then follow on by using a blade.

Now cut a piece of foam to insert over the front. You can make a little hole in the foam and insert the eye of the hook through the foam. Put a little bit of glue behind the foam and apply a bit of pressure to ensure it remains right against the deer hair. Once the foam is on, I coloured the foam with a bright orange marker just to match. The foam helps with the popping sound and also prevents the gaps between the deer hair taking on water while it's being stripped.

And now you ready to hit the water for some bass.....
