    Default Sage Circa

Sage have release a new range of rods call the Circa.

They replace the ZXL series, and maintain the idea of a soft action rod, with a crisp recovery, this is done with konetic technology.
All the rods are 4 piece and are 2 to 5 weights, in 7foot 9inch, or 8foot 9inch.
    2w 7'9"
    3w 7'9"
    3w 8'9"
    4w 7'9"
    4w 8'9"
    5w 8'9"

You can check out the Sage presentation here...

The will be priced similar to where the ZXL was priced.

    From Sage Website:

"• Custom Cork Handle. Snub-nose, half-Wells grip. The cork is custom formed to match the exact taper of the CIRCA rod, providing a snug fit that helps communicate casting feedback for utmost accuracy."

The picture above looks more like a full wells doesn't it, although i have no idea what the Snub nose part means? Maybe a Snub Nose Half wells is a Full Wells, or 3/4 wells?

Anyways, I like the shape of this Grip, but watching a lot of small stream anglers, they like to hold their light sticks with their index finger extended up the blank past the grip and the grip on this rod will make that very uncomfortable. Personally i prefer a thumb on top grip instead of index finger so this won't bother me, but i think it's pretty bold of Sage to choose a grip style that would eliminate a decent portion of the small stream fishermen? What d'you guys reckon?

Anyways, can't wait to get one in my hands and give it a cast or two (Mark, you have my number! ;-))

    Hi Grant

Although we haven't had our hands on one yet, from what we see in the images, the video and the documentation we have received, the snub-nose grip is the same as on the Sage ONE.

    Hi Grant
Initially, when the TXL-F rods came out (they also have the same snub-nose style grip) I thought it would be a problem as I also prefer casting with my index finger on top. When I got the opportunity to cast one of these rods that was the first thing I tried, but it didnt seem to hamper my casting one bit. In fact, it was much more comfortable than I imagined it would be.

Shector... So have you had the opportunity to cast one of these Circas or are you referring to the TXL-F?

Grant, the index finger is for accuracy in presentation. Proved to be more a more effective grip.
