    Hi Michael,

    When the materials are pulled back, thread wraps are made tightly in front and not wrapped over the material. These wraps push the material backwards. The wraps nearest the material need a tapered foot/base to "stand" on. If you look at the "nose" of the finished flies, this is what the wraps look like before the next bunch of materials are tied on. Hope this makes sense.
