Awesome fish!!!!!!!
I was down on the river again yesterday afternoon late.I use my 7’6” rod and a 6X tippet and fish a Midge under a small black Flashback using a strike indicator in almost still water of about a meter deep. After about ten minutes I lost a Smallscale of about 25cm at the net.
So today at around 11:00 I go back to the same spot, Likewaan Corner for those who have been to the river, and I used the same method as Yesterday. On my very first throw my indicator dips under and I hook a 46cm Smallscale, after a lengthy fight with some nice long runs I eventually land the fish.

awesome fish man...lovely to see they are healthy
bushveld scalies - worth the blood, sweat and tears
Thanks, I caught a 47cm one in December but this one seems far heavier. There are many fish around. I have seen some that I am initially disappointed by because they look like Carp and then realize that they are in fact big Yellowfish, substantially larger than this one.
What is nice is that I haven't hooked or seen even a small Bass this year yet and I've never seen a Carp but lots of Yellowfish.
Does anybody know how to convert length to mass on these fish?
