I caught a fish in December of 47cm but I don't remember it being as big as this one, the photos indicate the same thing. Also I saw a fish in the river last week that looked like a Carp it wasn't much longer than the other big fish I saw but it had a far bigger girth. I had a look last night. According to Skelton these fish grow to 7kg but a maximum length of 46cm, so from around 46cm they start filling out rather than growing much longer I can't imagine that a 46cm fish can weigh 7kg though, but a 48cm fish will weigh far more than a 46cm one. In my case the 46cm fish actually weighed more than the 47cm one. I need to get a scale.

That sounds like a good plan, Stan

Ek was 11:00 by die rivier. Gou leader, vliegies ens. reg gekry, vis binne sekondes gehaak en eers so 11:50 vis weer vrygelaat.

Ter belangstelling, hoe lyk jou leader lengte/setup ?

    Get a McLean Weigh Net.
Worth the money (and more accurate than eg Xplorer weigh net - last one I compared against was over-reading by 2+ at a true 5lb already...)

Or get an adjustable Slater spring scale and zero it against a wet net.

The one I have is accurate to 100 grams. Tested.
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.
