Depends how much you want to spend. Botha and Barnard near Sedgefield, used to make some good ones, but they are seriously expensive, like upwards of 20K. Best to design one, and get a cabinet maker to build it for you. I found an antique roll top desk at an antique store, and it worked really well for me until I scaled down after my divorce, and then I sold it and got a small antique writing desk, which is great for me now, but the main thing is how much you want to spend.

Check the auctions on line like Hofmeyer Mills and Charles Rudd auction houses, Ashbeys too.
If anyone is not in Cape Town I will gladly look at a likely tying desk and report back. There is some great value to be had in the markets. Send me a photo or design and I will give a workable costing.

Before you go out and buy, decide what you want your fly tying station to look like.
Some great ideas on the web.
decide on what you want, then go for it.
I have seen a couple of fly tying stations starting off as one idea, then another gets added and another.
at the end of the day, it is a mishmash of stuff.
    do you want a desk?
With a wall mounting on the wall, maybe with closing doors?
if you have lots of stuff, another cabinet, with plastic storage containers?

You are 100% right. what I was/am trying to say, each guy has his own ideas and needs. And how he enjoys to tie.
Some like to tie "production" style, others ties 1 or 2 of a fly then wants to move on, to something else.
Get something that works for you.
