Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day

    Gerrit, awesome vids.

Did both of those take on the drop (with some crafty mending to keep things drag free) without you starting the retrieve?

    Thanx gents.

Yes Bryan both fish took on the drop that's why it's so important to always get in contact with your fly asap i.e rod tip down and see what your line is doing and adjust. On the second vid I had to chuck in a few mends because the current was pulling my line faster than what I deemed as "normal belly line tension" which is good drag btw and I wasn't even close to the bottom that section there is +- 2.5m deep. The fact that I got a take on the drop is my good fortune. Sometimes you have to fish such a lie for quite some time and stuffing around in the top section of the water column is wasting time you need to get down to where the fish are.

Did you notice how I struck on both vids using my left hand? Same thing happened the other day with that big mamma, only difference being 1) I was way closer, 2) I was fishing a different kind of lie and 3) I could actually see the tip of my fly line move (5cm) whereas with these two fish I saw a larger portion of the line move and the takes were more aggressive!
