I got a nice one a while back from Game, comes with a nice adjustable stand so the light can be above my head, but still close enough to see the fly.

Try find a lamp that can be adjusted, there's nothing worse than having shadows on the fly while tying, just to find out that you screwed something up because you didn't see it while busy as it was in a shadow

I have a similar lamp to this, mounted against the wall, that I can pull down.
Very handy to have no lamp base or arm of lamp etc on the desk.
It is on a piece of wood, that protrude from the wall, so it can be pulled down vertical

How about sharing some of your flies?

I have a 12 volt lamp on an adjustable stem. it uses a 5wt LED " pure white" light downlighter, "focused beam" bulb with zero UV emission. Quite an expensive bulb, but should last forever.

No, I meant CDO because it's in alphabetical order, the way it SHOULD be...

    It's a little OCD humour... 😎

Make sure it have WHITE light. Incandescent/fluorescent bulbs are generally not daylight-spectrum white, which can result in flies looking quite different on the water. Nowadays LED lighting would be the way to go.
Outdoor warehouse sells these, which others have used as their tying light. Flexible head and magnetic base + screw clamp. Uses AAA batteries. Advantage is that it is portable too.
