Steelpoort River, Between Steelpoort and Burgersfort ?

I am lucky ( unlucky ? ) to have to spend tomorrow night on the banks of the Steelpoort river between the 2 abovementioned towns. :biggrin:

My diary should allow me to fish from around 14:00 to sunset at the place that I have booked in to. :wink:

My only question is : What fish should I be targeting ?

Large scale, small scale yellows or both ?

Fly wise I am sorted for any specie.

I was there last around 8 or so years ago, the Steelpoort close to town, below the town, was really shallow and barely flowing, mostly slow sandy pools and I didn't see any fish.

My recommendation would be to either head upstream out of town or further downstream to see if the situation improves, you will see the fish if they are there.

Don't leave anything in your vehicle that you are fond of.

The river at the place I was staying was as Bertu described it. Very shallow sandy and with no fish.
Oh well there is always next time.
