    Default Size of PIKE FLIES

It always amazes me the size of Pike flies. HUMUNGUS.
I encountered these on a recent trip. Have a look at the R20 note for size
some of the flies are 30cm in length

    a bit of useless info

    Pike in Dutch is Snoek.
it is a fish with lots of teeth.
So when the Dutch arrived here in the 1650's they caught "our snoek" which also had big teeth. and the two looked a little like each other.
    So they named it Snoek.
The same applies to the Snook they catch on the East Coast of America and the Baramundi Snook in Australia.
