    did a bit of Googling
Storage capacity 139 million cubic meters of waters
    Current level 75% full

For the Capies, as comparison, Clanwillian dam is 122 million cubic meters.
Can accomodate a lot of trout in Spring Grove

I wonder what the biggest trout still water in ZA is? I mean where the majority fish is trout. I can imagine back in the day Sterkies was a pretty big trout fishery before the yellows arrived.

after the post, of the Yellows in the fish tank, hammering the gold fish, I wonder if the trout, where not almost "out muscled" by the trout in the end?

Guess we can stop using Rotenone then, right???

It has always been like that. I recall my father-in-law's father telling us stories about large yellows they caught as kids. "Steepsakke vol" was the term he used. They did much more damage than trout could ever do to a yellow!!

The yellows never occured in some of the waters that the trout now occur.
That is the argument of Nature conservation.

I wonder how much this dam's level will fluctuate every year?
That might influence the fish holding capacity of the dam.

It's a very subjective argument from their side, since there are far more invasive species than trout to tackle. Anyway, not related to this topic.

I was kind of shocked to learn that the Breede is now pretty devastated as a bass fishery. I remember catching great bass there around 15 years ago. Pretty sad what carp and barbel have done to the system.

I am sure that Gareth George and Wildfly would have secured a consession on the dam, seeing that it is at his front door.
