Hi Guys,
We have 1 spot open for the Breede trip. Breede has produced numerous grunter, leeries and kob lately.
Let me know via pm/e-mail if you want to join.

Join us on the Breede 19 - 22 March
March is certainly one of the top months on the fishing calendar, with many of the Western Cape estuaries in prime shape. Our trip has been scheduled to coincide with a spring tide and the Breede rarely disappoints.
Our base will be "Die Opstalletjie", this magnificent beachfront property is on the Witsand side of the river, with close access to the mouth. See the red circle on the image below.
We also have the use of a 15' semi-rigid rubberduck with skipper Mark O'Conner to access the various fishing spots. To top it all Henkie Altena, one of our local grunter gurus will join us on the trip, not only to cook the most delicious meals but also to give advice.
We will target all the regular Breede visitors, including leerfish, spotted grunter, kob and elf. And top all of this, we have secured access to private property further upriver, more than 3 kilometers of prime flats past Groenpunt.
Beginners and Old Salts are all welcome and numbers are limited to 6 fly fishers. Philip will host the trip and will be available to assist the fly fishers.
The cost is R 3650.00 per person and this includes three nights accommodation, boat/skipper and fuel, all meals. Drinks, apart from coffee and tea are excluded. A 50% deposit secures your spot.

Hi Guys,
We have had a great trip! Thank you to all the guys who joined us on the trip - Mark, Gyles, Barrie, Johan and Johan, Pierre and Brian. Henkie and Vic who spoiled us with delicious meals and great company.
For the first time both yr.no and windfinder weren't as accurate with their weather forecasts. With a pumping North Westerly on Friday and South Westerly on Saturday, the mornings were picture perfect, with the wind expected to pick up with the turn of the tide in the afternoon.
We caught 6 species on fly - Leerfish (+- 15), Cob (3), Elf (1), Mullet (1), Grunter (1), Cape Moony (+- 10) and Blaasoppies aka Evil Eye pufferfish
Johan Knoetze, with a steel/metal business had cut off the tip of his middle finger on his stripping hand, three days before the trip. He took a drop shot rod for the times when the finger was too sore to strip line. With the drop shot he caught a cob in the 25kg - 30kg (guesstimate) range which we released. A fish of a lifetime!
Barrie and Brian fished the salt for the first time ever and both caught two species - Leerfish and Moony.
I will load some pics soon.

In the evenings we tied some flies, Henkie demonstrating his craft fur minnow
Fishing the first morning, upriver from Mudlark
Johan with his beautiful Cob taken from the shore, quite a story to tell after a hard battle

Don't go knocking on Death's door, ring the bell and run like hell. He hates it. (anon)
Nymphing, adds depth to your fly fishing.
Nymphing, is fly fishing in another dimension
After Johan's magnificent fish, I took two cob on a Clouser, one on an intermediate line and one on a Di5. Also had a few missed takes.
Taken on a intermediate line, chartreuse over white 4/0 Clouser
Taken on a Di5, same clouser
Tackling up for the morning session
Another excellent meal, on the river shore
Pierre landing a Leerie, while Johan Kuhn is busy releasing one in the background. Although we covered different parts of the river we mainly found juvenile Leeries
