    Hi Guys,

We have had a great trip! Thank you to all the guys who joined us on the trip - Mark, Gyles, Barrie, Johan and Johan, Pierre and Brian. Henkie and Vic who spoiled us with delicious meals and great company.

For the first time both yr.no and windfinder weren't as accurate with their weather forecasts. With a pumping North Westerly on Friday and South Westerly on Saturday, the mornings were picture perfect, with the wind expected to pick up with the turn of the tide in the afternoon.

We caught 6 species on fly - Leerfish (+- 15), Cob (3), Elf (1), Mullet (1), Grunter (1), Cape Moony (+- 10) and Blaasoppies aka Evil Eye pufferfish

Johan Knoetze, with a steel/metal business had cut off the tip of his middle finger on his stripping hand, three days before the trip. He took a drop shot rod for the times when the finger was too sore to strip line. With the drop shot he caught a cob in the 25kg - 30kg (guesstimate) range which we released. A fish of a lifetime!

Barrie and Brian fished the salt for the first time ever and both caught two species - Leerfish and Moony.

I will load some pics soon.

The view from our house, overlooking the mouth of the Breede

In the evenings we tied some flies, Henkie demonstrating his craft fur minnow

Fishing the first morning, upriver from Mudlark

Johan with his beautiful Cob taken from the shore, quite a story to tell after a hard battle

After Johan's magnificent fish, I took two cob on a Clouser, one on an intermediate line and one on a Di5. Also had a few missed takes.

Taken on a intermediate line, chartreuse over white 4/0 Clouser

Taken on a Di5, same clouser

Tackling up for the morning session

Another excellent meal, on the river shore

Pierre landing a Leerie, while Johan Kuhn is busy releasing one in the background. Although we covered different parts of the river we mainly found juvenile Leeries
