Happens in/with rugby, doesn't it? Not the "swopping" of player, but ito place of residence. I know even on "platteland" level and even with our social cricket league, the players sign a "contract" binding them to a team. Why not in this case too?

I presume any person can fish for any province of his choice then? You live in JHB you can fish for Limpopo, Mpumalanga or any other province and if it suits you you can always choose between Northern Gauteng and Central Gauteng?
Really guys I am not criticizing here - just give me the facts plain and simple how it works. If I live In Pretoria can I fish for Northern Cape?

You do not have to reside in the province that you fish for.
Some of the Gauteng guys fish for Northern Gauteng, Limpopo or Mpumalanga.
If you cannot make the A team to go to A nationals for a strong province, you can fish for the province next door.
    Happens in all the sport.

But surely then you should keep on competing for that province? Is there absolutely nothing that keeps you from hop-scotching around? I know with the bigger (money related) sports your contract keeps you bound to a team, but sho, I can't think it would be good for a sport to have this going on. If Pietie works his arse off to make his provincial team (and does) and Kareltjie comes in from another province because his "team was full" I would be very upset if I was Pietie, but more important is the fact that it would probably cause Pietie to throw his toys and stop competing.

I do not know where somebody lost his spot due to a guy province hoping.
Normally the stronger provinces have a 2 year points ranking system etc.
So, you cannot just hop over and go and fish for another province.
Unless the other province do not have the depth and short an angler.

I did not say it happened, I was merely sketching a scenario. Like, if an angler from Prov A had 1000 points over 3 seasons but was not good enough to make his team (filled with great fisherman) and Pietie only had 500 points (but made the team due to the anglers in his province), do you think they would take the 1000-point angler over Pietie if the situation arose? Quite an interesting "moral" decision at the end of the day - or do you think it would be logical/clear cut?

We will give you one, without competing.
Then it will look like you competed or attended a course.

I know WP has a good system and the National set-up also to an extent but for the rest - ag please...

Hehe bit of a contradiction there Mario For most (or at least some) clubs there's a selection criteria, where you need to have fished a certain number of provincial trials to be eligible. obviously if a province doesn't have the depth this policy wouldn't make sense though. You also cant just quickly get 5 guys together and enter 2015 Nationals as Northern Cape for example. The province needs have a structure that is recognised or sanctioned by SAFFA as someone said earlier. That procedure i have no knowledge of though.

In many cases it may be easy to get provincial colours but the point is that the colours are only worth whatever the person who has them feels they are worth. If you are simply there to be able to tell people your have provincial colours then that's a problem with the individual, not the sport.

I'm sure there are cases where Pietie has been hard done by a province picking a stronger or even more popular new coming angler even though Pietie has done the hard yards over the years for his province, but as a province grows and has a more structured set-up including a selection policy that is enforced by an elected selection committee then problems like that get eliminated.
