    Default Question about rust

This may be a "duh" question, but is rust “contagious”? That is, if I had flies in a flybox and they rusted, leaving a bit of a rusty residue in and around the foam/silicone slots, will new flies be more prone to rust if I put them in there?
Another scenario, salvaging beads from old rusted flies, will they affect the new flies negatively?

Edit, sorry about the font size, seems really large right now...???

rust will spread on the metal where it has started, for rust deposits to be contagious is a good question. rust is like a chemical reaction and needs treatment to prevent further damage to other same metals. if the new metals dont get contaminate its probably because the new metals are treated or made of different metal

Interesting question and one I've often pondered myself.

On a related note - I have an old reel is 'rusting' and in need of anodisation. Does anyone have experience with home anodisation of reel/aluminum parts?

    thanks
