Default Breede Report Back March 2016

    Hi Guys,

Just a short report back on our trip this past weekend. I am still waiting for some pics from the others and will post as they come in.

Three of the guys in the group went through on Thursday afternoon, with the rest of us following on the Friday. Our group was the second group ever at the new Karoolskraal fly fishing camp. When I arrived at the camp on Friday afternoon, Johan Knoetze already had his Breede Grand Slam, with a kob, leerfish and grunter caught withing a 24 hour period, the first ever Karoolskraal Grand Slammer - congratulations to Johan!

Three of the guys were newcomers to saltwater fly fishing, and they all landed their first fish in the salt. Henk Kotze and Jeremy Hasselman both landed grunter and Marius Botha a leerfish.

    Some pics:

    And a hard fighting Leerie

    Philip,

Any feedback on the performance of the assist hook on your latest the articulated prawn flies?

The fish in the first pic was caught on the assist hook, the second pic grunter on both the assist and head hook. The pic with the grunter head and fly upside down on a single hook smaller fly in calm/flat conditions. Also another fish taken in these conditions on the smaller fly.

    See pic below.
