Default Customer service and attitude from retailers

Ive been fly fishing for a few years so id say im beginner intermediate.I find some dealers/shops etc give pretty poor service and have poor attitudes towards customers.
Unless you spending huge amounts or one of the "doyens" of fly fishing i think you are looked down upon.I have found this.
    Anyone else experienced this?

My experience with dedicated fly fishing vendors has been up and down. I have since got to know a few of the staff so I am finding shopping a bit more pleasant. Don't spend your money at places where you don't feel welcome. With online stores these days you always have alternative options.

I really like the online stores. It is easy to compare prices and products, i dont mind paying the ~R100 for delivery. But the biggest thing is I dont spend emotionally which always happens in fly shops!

Problem is not much choice in south africa for online sales. There are a few though. Not sure why this big deal attitude presides in this country with fly fishing.
