Default Just how dry the NEC was

I was having a look at the Karenmelk on Google Maps now, as one does, and noticed that the river towards the confluence with the Kraai was looking much thinner than it should have. Then, I check the image dates, 2017. If you want to see evidence of just how dry it was up in the North Eastern Cape, have a look at these co-ords -30.901756, 27.137992.

I was there in December year before last, and couldnt believe it when I saw the KMS running dry at Ians place.

I have before, but not that trip. The Gorge is great in the sense that all those rocks create big pools and lovely little spots for minnows to hide - from recent reports, the system is sounding healthy again. That gorge is probably the most dangerous place I have fished.

Why do you say dangerous? I would imagine flash flood is the main risk, so good idea to keep an eye on the 10 day forecast.

I have been meaning to make a mission to fish it for a couple of seasons now ... maybe this year i will get it right

Well, floods ja, but its the terrain. No real paths, huge obscure boulders litter the floor, so many big cracks and places to smash an ankle, no chance of an air lift, or people even walking to you easily. Its just a hectic place. Will PM you.
